Book this hotel. Book it now. This hotel was a delightful find at a fantastic price. We were travelling with my brother, who travels extensively in Japan for his work, and he rated it very highly as well. Located about 7 minutes easy walk from Nagoya station, the hotel is immaculately clean and nicely presented. The check in staff are very welcoming and although they spoke limited English, were quick to grab a phone with a translator to make communication easy. The room was very well laid out and spacious (we paid a few extra Aussie dollars for an extra large double and it was worth it for a bit more space in the room as well). Bed was really comfortable, linen was crisp and clean and the top sheet under the quilt was a nice surprise - most unusual in Japan. As is typical of Japanese hotels, a full selection of toiletries was provided. Less typically, the shower head was fabulous and there were nice fluffy towels instead of the usual rough over-laundered ones. On check-in we were surprised to receive a voucher for a light breakfast which you redeem from reception in the morning (there is no hotel restaurant). The food is not particularly western, but if you're happy to explore Japanese cuisine then you'll enjoy the selection. Highly recommend.

The hotel equipped with all necessary items. The double bed is comfortable for 2 Asian women and the temperature controller in the room have English display which is very easy to use. They do not clean the room everyday but they have a very clear instruction of how to take out the trash or request new towel. The location is a bit long walk if you have luggage but still within 10 mins walk from Nagoya Station area and airport train. It is very close to the fish market, convenience store, underground mall entrance and a city bus stop right in front of the hotel. They offer a small breakfast until 9AM with no extra charge. The breakfast are pastries and instant soup or you can bring your own breakfast and you still can have coffee after 9AM. The staff are very nice and have a good communication in English.

I really enjoyed my stay. Room is on the small side as is typical in Japan. I appreciated the little green sofa kinda made it feel more cozy and was good space to unpack a backpack or something. Lighting in the room was okay, the toiletries are on the lobby for you free to take. There were free drinks in lobby with coffee , tea or water which was greatly appreciated. Staff was always nice and helpful. They helped me send my luggage to my next hotel as well. Though my booking said no breakfast included they still offered a small snack in the mornings which I thought it was nice as I wasn’t expecting it.

After a lot of searching and reading reviews I picked the Compass hotel for 4 nights. It's location was central for all my needs. The room was small - it is a Japanese hotel so it's about usual size for one - not a problem as I was on my own. The bed and pillows were really comfortable. Shower and bathroom were excellent. The breakfast was just pastries - which was fine for me as I overslept twice and missed them. There are convenience stores local so not a problem. The staff were great and very helpful - their English was better than my Japanese! I would happily stay again.

the queen-sized bed was the main attraction for me. perfect for 2 people. another plus is the free-flowing brewed coffee at the lobby! simple breakfast of bread, soup and rice balls was another plus! no need to run to 7-11 for breakfast. loved the pajamas that kept me warm in my sleep. the soap, shampoo and conditioner smelled so nice! if you stayed at least 5 nights, they clean the room at no extra charge. the lobby was very welcoming. the hotel is about 5 minutes walk from Nagoya station.
